Tax workflow solutions company accelerates product development and strategic innovation following Thomson Reuters acquisition
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — SafeSend®, part of Thomson Reuters, leading provider of automation technology for tax and accounting firms, announced strong growth for the first half of 2025, with product usage growing 35% year over year. The sustained momentum reflects the growing demand for end-to-end tax workflow automation as firms seek comprehensive solutions for ongoing staffing challenges and to deliver superior client experiences.
Several features within SafeSend One™ reported significant adoption gains, including a 51% surge in Secure File Transfer users, a 33% increase in eSignatures usage, and 26% growth in Tax Return delivery. Next Gen Gather AI, one of SafeSend’s newest offerings, is already being used by over 1,000 firms, who collected over 1.8 million source documents in the first half of 2025, demonstrating strong market appetite for source document intake automation.
“These numbers validate what we’ve been hearing from tax and accounting firms across the country—they need powerful, integrated solutions that eliminate manual work and create seamless client experiences,” said Andrew Hatfield, Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer at SafeSend. “Following our acquisition by Thomson Reuters, we’re doubling down on innovation and accelerating our roadmap to deliver the comprehensive platform firms have been asking for.”
SafeSend’s accelerated investment in innovation delivered a number of new features in Q3 designed to further automate and streamline tax workflows.
Letter Builder represents an advancement in engagement letter automation that addresses key issues: reduced manual effort; increased efficiencies; mitigated risk of errors; simplified delivery of bulk engagement letters; and a streamlined way to manage who can create, edit, and send letters.
Enhanced Next Gen Gather AI capabilities continue SafeSend’s mission to automate “the first mile” of tax preparation. Upgraded entity capabilities, such as importing DRLs from CSV and DRL-specific due dates, as well as features like rearranging sequencing of taxpayer deliverables and modifying DRLs post-delivery provide even greater flexibility for firms to tailor the document collection process to their needs and client requirements.
Go File Room integration demonstrates the benefits of SafeSend’s acquisition by Thomson Reuters, offering seamless first-party integration that eliminates the need for manual document transfers. Firms can now send signed returns directly to Go File Room with a single click, removing a workflow friction point.
New payment integrations including CPACharge, which launched in Q2, and Aywin, which launched in Q3, address a critical pain point in the payment collection process. By embedding CPACharge’s payment functionality directly into SafeSend One’s workflow, firms can instantly collect payments when clients review and sign their returns, eliminating delays and follow-up calls while providing clients with flexible online payment options. Aiwyn’s integration enables firms to embed firm-specific payment links within the Tax Return experience. Clients can view their invoice in the guided return flow and click the “Pay Now” button to complete payment using Aiwyn’s platform.
“Our philosophy has always been about creating an open ecosystem that works with firms’ existing technology,” said SafeSend CEO Mathieu Stevenson. “Instead of forcing firms to abandon their current tools, we’re building bridges that connect and enhance their entire workflow.”
With the backing of Thomson Reuters and a relentless focus on innovation, SafeSend is not just keeping pace with the industry—it’s leading the charge in transforming tax and accounting. As firms face mounting pressure to do more with less, SafeSend is delivering the automation, integration, and artificial intelligence they need to succeed. Backed by an ambitious product roadmap and a clear vision for the future of the profession, SafeSend’s position as the definitive platform for modern tax and accounting firms is cemented.
